Dear Authors,
Robert Nahas here. As the Founder and CEO of Writer Services, I have worked relentlessly for more than 15 years to develop solutions for authors.
In an industry lacking in reliable information, done-for-you services and training for authors, how to best protect one’s book (Intellectual Property) is at the top of the list of importances.
The Importance of Using a Professional
Book Copyrighting Service
It’s NEVER Easy!
The simplest things seem so easy . . . until you try to actually do it yourself.
No matter what it is, trying to do something for the first time has the tendency of facing one challenge after another. It’s frustrating, to say the least.
I’m facing this myself in trying to get a trailer hitch, that I bought on Amazon, attached to my SUV. I keep running in to stop after stop!
I’m about to pull my hair out while writing this message because:
- Affixing the hitch is more complicated than I thought it would be and
- I can’t even find a professional to install it unless I purchase the hitch from them!
If I had only known what I needed to know, I would never have bought the hitch online, and this all would have been A LOT less aggravating, complicated and time-consuming!
It never fails . . .
EVERY TIME WE DO SOMETHING WE DON’T KNOW ENOUGH ABOUT, IT BECOMES A DIFFICULT MESS!
At least the one positive of this is . . .
I can use this VERY FRUSTRATING life lesson as a real example for why you should STRONGLY CONSIDER utilizing a professional company that has plenty of experience with registering books with the Copyright Office.
Because this is your book we’re talking about, you’ll want to make sure your registration is done correctly, not to mention avoid the aggravation and stress of trying to figure out something new.
Here’s an observable fact . . .
If you don’t have enough information on the right way to do something, one or all of the following things WILL occur:
- You’re going to make costly mistakes
- It’s going to frustrate the heck out of you
- You’re going to do a poor job of it
- You’re going to put yourself at risk
Don’t waste your valuable time.
Don’t worry about the details.
Don’t lose sleep over whether your book is adequately protected.
You won’t have to stress over it.
No frustration, no rattled nerves . . . just leave it to the pros at BookCopyrightService.com!
Make sure your book is properly registered with the Copyright Office. Just click the image below and leave the rest to us . . .
DIY—The Drawbacks of “Do It Yourself”
What’s scary is that there is almost always the option of DIY in life . . . or so we think it’s an option!
The fact is, there’s great risk—even danger—in everything we do if we are not properly trained.
Driving a car, riding a bike, using a buzz saw, scuba diving—thank goodness at least SOME of these things require certification by law!
No doubt, there would be thousands of people who would, clueless of the impending danger, go scuba diving without the slightest amount of training—and many would actually die in the attempt.
This might sound a bit overly dramatic, but it’s not. What I’m saying is true.
True Story
Recently, a neighbor of mine was holding on for dear life from a very high tree branch. He must have been 80 feet from the ground.
How the heck could anyone ever get into such a predicament? Trying to trim his own 150-foot oak tree. That’s how! Another do-it-yourselfer!! He literally almost died in the attempt.
There he was, his wife scrambling around on the ground, trying to pick up and move this enormous ladder that had fallen, back up to him. She couldn’t do it. He was lucky some good neighbor happened by at that moment or it would have been—goodbye, neighbor!
Thank goodness he did’t die! (He’s a really nice guy.) What’s crazy is, he kept meddling around with this gigantic tree, and he eventually ended up killing it. What should he have done? Called an arborist.
Reality Check
I’m not saying that everything will kill or maim you if you try to do it yourself.
The valid point I’m trying to make is . . .
We often try to do things we should leave to professionals—
if only because of the 4 points listed above.
Here’s another observable fact . . .
WE TEND TO UNDERESTIMATE THE ACTUAL HIGH LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL NEEDED TO PROPERLY ACCOMPLISH SOMETHING WE’VE NEVER DONE BEFORE.
This is because it is impossible to have adequate: EXPECTATION, ESTIMATION and PREDICTION.
Can You REALLY Do-It-Yourself?
Can I do it myself? That’s the question to ask yourself.
My Personal Regret With The Trailer Hitch
You would think that, by my age, I’d have learned my lesson and gone the quicker, safer route.
But nope, my knee-jerk reaction was to get the best price online for the best quality trailer hitch, and then—in a delusional moment of mental euphoria—I said to myself, I’ll install the trailer hitch myself. It’ll be a piece of cake!
OMG! How many times must those “famous” last words . . . “I GOT THIS!” get the best of us?
No Need to Make The Headlines
A good amount of the stories we hear on the news, like: ‘Man Accidentally Shoots Spike in Head. Lives to Tell About It!’ and other bizarre happenings are solely due to an inadequate level of knowledge and training on how to properly do something.
At least I saw within the first 30 seconds of reading the trailer hitch directions that “detaching the wires” was an activity NOT meant for me. This was beyond my capability.
Even though it is now DAY 3 and we’re STILL wasting countless hours trying to find a reputable place that will install the dumb hitch (yes, I’m at that stage of hating the hitch now) that wasn’t purchased from them, no one wants to install it if it wasn’t bought from them!
If I’d just gone to the professionals in the first place and bought one of their hitches, this all would be done and over!
Other Not-So-Obvious Dangers of DIY
Quite often, things without sharp edges, electricity or high elevations, can cause as much damage.
They’re not as life-threatening as jumping off a cliff with homemade wings, but they put you in danger in other very important ways, such as . . .
. . . losing time, money and/or even ruining the valuable thing you’re trying to do something with.
Book Copyright Registration
I remember the first time I tried to copyright my book with the U.S. Copyright Office.
It was intimidating!
Every step of the way, every question, every piece of information caused my heart to race. I was afraid I would do it the wrong way, waste my hard-earned money, and worst of all, not properly and adequately protect my written work!
After much time, I finally hit the “Submit” button, still nervous and worried over whether I had applied for my book’s copyright correctly. And that was JUST the process itself!
Questions ran through my head, like . . .
- What if I didn’t do it right?
- WHEN am I actually supposed to copyright a book?
- WHAT am I supposed to include within my book about the copyright notice?
- Exactly WHERE am I supposed to put this information?
- What if, after months go by, I find out I have to do it over again and someone else beats me to the punch and says they own my work?
And then there are the actual things that need to be known in order to comply with the rules and regulations for my book itself . . .
- Do I need to use the (c) symbol?
- Should I include “copyright” spelled out?
- Do I use the date of when I start writing my book or when I finish it?
- What happens if a change is made after the copyright has been filed with the U.S. Copyright Office?
Without question, after experiencing the nerves, the restless sleep, the stress of it all . . .
I would have paid a professional one thousand dollars for the peace of mind of having my book copyrighted properly!
Often, life is a series of “too little, too late” scenarios. But once in a while, we run into someone who knows about what we want to get done, we pay them, and get on with life—stress-free, with peace of mind, without worry, knowing everything will be done the right way.
Ahhhhh . . . Breath . . . Exhale!

Can You Do This Yourself?
Of course you can. You can fix your own car, make a wedding cake, and wire your own house with electricity too, but unless you are well-versed in the activity, there is the potential of it not turning out the way you’d expected.
That’s the dividing factor of whether you should try to do something or leave it to a professional . . .
Are you equipped to do the job well or not?
You can figure it out blindly. But you have to ask yourself: Is putting all of my hard work, time, sweat and passion in jeopardy by chancing everything to registering my book inadequately or incorrectly worth it?
Of course not. That’s why we leave the important things to the professionals.
Do you want to take the time to figure it all out and hope for the best?
Ask yourself this . . .
Is my book and my peace of mind important enough to me to have this done by a company who has a direct account with the U.S. Copyright Office and knows how to get it done fast and correctly?
If you answered YES, then secure this service right now and save 25%.
